Election Call

Now that the Conservatives are about to break their fixed term law (raising the issue of whether we need a mandatory minimum sentence for this kind of law breaking), an interesting issue arises for the Governor General, and a difficult one. How does the fact that the fixed term law was the will of "her" Parliament factor into her response to the Prime Minister's request to dissolve Parliament? Does she have an obligation to do so? Does she have the constitutional power to ask the other parties if they can somehow form a government? I wonder if she is assessing her constitutional powers and obligations in the midst of the current debate.
